Earthing is the process of creating an alternative path for the flow of fault/excessive currents safely into the ground in the presence of minimal resistance or impedance.
Chemical Earthing Electrode
It is a metal electrode which goes into the ground near the building. It helps in the efficient discharge of all the fault currents/surge currents present in the electrical system. It also helps in dissipating the high voltages which are passed on through the lightning arrestors atop buildings.
Back Fill Compounds
These are earth enhancement compounds which have different properties depending on soil and other atmospheric conditions. Essentially, an ideal BFC has high electrical conductivity, moisture capture and retention abilities and anti corrosive properties. It works in tandem with the Safe Earthing Electrode. Together both form the efficient earthing system.
Pipe in Pipe Technology
Pioneered by ASHLOK in 1999, the Pipe in Pipe design incorporates the use of two pipes of co-axial diameters joined together for enhancing the service life and performance of the overall earthing system. The cavity in-between the electrode is filled with crystalline conductive compounds CompactFill for current dissipation and anti corrosive properties.
Significance of Chemical Earthing
• Low impedance
• Corrosion Resist ant
• Sufficient mechanical strength to hold fault current
• Environment friendly
Merits of Safe Earthing Electrodes:
• Contains metal alloys and natural compounds
• Contains Crystalline Conductive Mixture (CCM) , which has:
• Excellent conductivity
• High specific gravity
• Anti-corrosive
• Excellent bonding

Copper bonded earth rods are made from low carbon Steel. Earth Rods are molecularly bonded with 99.9% pure electrolytic copper. Perfectly Bonded rod will last longer, drive easier and will not crack as per UL 467 2007. Non corrosive resistance while provide the lowest resistance to ground.
The earth electrode is UL listed is of 14.2 / 17.2 mm diameter and 1.22 / 2.0 / 3.0 Mtrs long.
Additionally, 25 & 32 mm dia electrodes are also available.
The minimum copper bonding thickness is from 50 to 250 microns
One end is pointed and the other end is flat.
Advantages & Benefits
* Safety of life and property from earth related electrical hazards * Long and reliable average life of 15 to 20 plus years * Less maintenance " Cost savings on maintenance and no material replacement during its life period * Smooth dissipation of fault, lightning and short circuits * Low electrical resistance to earth. * Resistance to corrosion. * Repeated current carrying capacity and continuity. * Provides stable reference * ideal earthing system for electrical / sensitive electronic machinery, equipment and appliances.
